Play, active recreation and sport provide children with valuable skills that support development and wellbeing.
Providing strategic oversight and funding, Aktive works with and through its delivery partners to service primary and intermediate schools and kura (years 1 to 8), focusing on planning and providing positive play, physical education, active recreation and sport experiences.
Healthy Active Learning
Aktive is part of the Healthy Active Learning initiative assisting schools and kura to improve child and youth wellbeing through healthy eating and drinking, and quality physical activity.
Auckland’s Healthy Active Learning Advisors and Community Connectors are based with our community delivery partners CLM Community Sport, Harbour Sport, Sport Auckland and Sport Waitākere, and work across selected primary and intermediate schools.
This team promotes and encourages active and healthy school environments, supports health and physical education curriculum and teacher development, and facilitates community opportunities for physical activity experiences for tamariki.
