Accessibility
All Aucklanders have the right to be physically active. Organising meetings, programmes and events so that diverse groups of people can participate as much as possible through accommodating different needs requires early planning and considered thought about all the ways to be accessible and inclusive.
Aktive works with our System Build Partners to ensure play, active recreation and sport opportunities are made available for everyone in the community across the Auckland region. We also support specialist disability sector organisations, where appropriate, so they can help.
Accessibility also means making content understandable for everyone. This can include things like providing captions for videos, ensuring optimal colour contrast, and using clear and concise language.
It's about creating a better user experience that benefits everyone - that's why Aktive collaborated with Sport New Zealand and Sport Canterbury and consulted with Access Advisors to develop a suite of resources to support the play, active recreation and sport sector with providing accessible information and events.

Accessible and Inclusive Physical Activity Guidelines
Following input from a range of specialist disability sector organisations, our Understanding Disability Toolkit and Accessible and Inclusive Physical Activity Guidelines have been designed specifically for clubs and community groups with information, insights and ideas on including participants with disabilities in physical activity.
