Great spaces and places | He tūhoropaki me ngā tūwāhi tino pai
All Aucklanders have the right to fit-for-purpose sport, play and active recreation environments. Our work with Active Citizens Worldwide proves that, globally, there is a clear correlation between spaces and places and physical activity levels.
We also know that planning, urban design and infrastructure investment are key to easy-to-access, well utilised and future-proofed facilities.
Bringing these aspects together, Aktive works with our community delivery partners to make great spaces and places a priority in Tāmaki Makaurau. Through these partnerships, we are focused on maximising resources, boosting the use of spaces and places, and helping deliver projects.
Advocacy
Aktive also encourages organisations to contact local specialists where appropriate so they can help with new and existing facility projects.
Akl Have Your Say
Play, active recreation and sport requires recognition and investment in Auckland Council’s Annual Budget 2022/2023. Consultation on this is currently open, closing at 5pm on Monday 28 March 2022. During this period, the public can have their say.
We need to ensure all Aucklanders regardless of age, ethnicity and ability level can participate in play, active recreation and sport in fit-for-purpose facilities and spaces to enable them to live active, healthy lives, with positive health, community and economic benefits.
