Pathway to Podium is a partnership between Sport New Zealand, High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ), National Sport Organisations (NSO) and 14 regional talent hubs across the country. Aktive - Auckland Sport & Recreation is responsible for the Pathway to Podium programme in the Auckland region.
With an emphasis on education, Pathway to Podium aims to complement existing athlete support by providing access to a range of facilities, workshops and support services considered critical for future success. These support services include Athlete Life, Performance Psychology, Nutrition for Sport and Strength and Conditioning. All support is standardised nationally and delivered by HPSNZ approved providers.
Who is Involved?
Currently there are 14 sports represented in the programme. Athlete and coach selections for the programme are determined by the respective National Sporting Organisations. Aktive - Auckland Sport & Recreation supports over 95 athletes and their coaches that are involved in the programme in the Auckland region.

The following video is the story of former Auckland Pathway to Podium para-swimmer Tupou Neiufi, who has received support through the valuable partnership with Auckland Council to assist her in reaching her goals. Tupou competed at the Rio Paralympics 2016.
